Zephirine Drouhin is a 12 to 15 foot climber with large, double, fragrant dark-pink to cerise flowers.  It's famed for being thornless.  It is one of the more cold hardy climbing roses.  Here in zone 5 I mulch heavy around the crown.

The fragrance of the Zephirine Drouhin is amazing.

Boogie was ready for our walk in the garden this morning.  Pictures from our walk can be found on facebook under Country Flower Bin.

Now Jerry on the other hand wanted no part of our morning walk.

New Dawn Rose

Starting to really show a number of blooms today.  New Dawn rose.

This Clematis is making good use of this trellis this year.  I find that this plant loves alot of water.  Make sure to give it plenty of mulch also and you will be pleased with the results.

Bright orange Asiatic Lily 2011

Rugosa Rose  The original rugosa roses apparently arrived in Europe some time in the late 1700s.  By the end of the nineteenth century, people began to recognize the attributes of rugosa roses.  Their extreme cold hardiness and disease resistance is a plus.  They soon found that rugosas could be crossed with just about any other type of rose to yield an attractive and worthwhile shrub.  Rugosas actually prefer light, sandy soils and tolerate salt air well.  They are immune or extremely resistant to black spot and powdery mildew.   I think it is one of the sweetest scented rose I have ever smelled.

Rosa CL Morning Magic

O.K. look whose back in the Secret Garden and trying to hide again.

I love this Hosta.  He really knows how to show off.

Look who landed in the Parsley fern.

I wish I could bottle this color.

She looks so peaceful.

This Iris looks like I took a paint brush and painted the yellow on. it, but I didn't.

Bronze Fennel looks so delicate in the sunshine.

Loving this Blue Iris and the rust is starting to pop up.

Have to find something really neat for each side of the cement bench.  I planted the lavender petunias in the pots.

Love the sun shining on the plants.  This is a picture taken this morning early.

Purple is the color for Secret Garden this year.

This Iris is really starting to show off.

Lambsear for everyone who loves a plant that keeps on giving.  This plant will make an excellent ground cover.  This one will have pink purple flowers.  The main attraction of these plants are the large velvety leaves.  Also I love the color it adds to the garden no matter what you put it beside.  Grow in well drained soil with plenty of sunshine.  I also use this plant in my dried arrangements.  The best time to pick for drying is just before it starts to bloom.  If you pick it after the flowers open the flowers will turn brown.  When I begin to pick some I will show you when it's ready before I pick.

I just got a new rose.  Peace has been the all-tome best-known, best loved, and best-selling hybrid tea almost from the moment of its introduction.  It has a charming, double, large, and mildly fragrant flowers that are an ever-changing blend of yellow, pink, and carmine.

Hello blue Iris.  I look forward to this one blooming every year.  Just had to share the first bloom with you.

This was a good surprise this morning.  I found this one last year and it is so different.  Don't you just love when you plant something and get to see it bloom the very first time?   The leaves look a little rough, but that bloom, wow.

This rust Iris I have had for years and this was the first bloom this season.  Very pretty color.

The Spiderwort  in the Secret garden popped a few blooms today.

The color on the Coral bells and the Spiderwort  is really eye candy.  I don't know why I planted them together, but there they are.

O.K. this spiderwort is really getting full of blooms now.

Color on the Purple Palace Coral Bells is really rich this year.  With the perfect weather so far it seems all the colors are so bright.

Coral Bells and my rocks.  As you will see in my beds that I love rocks.  They are good for holding in the moisture.

If you have never had Coral Bells then try a few.  They look great all year.  If they start to look a little bad for you by August just cut them off at the ground and they will return right away.  They will look just like it's Spring again.  I do that with all my flowers.  Not the annuals though.  I cannot bare to see for instance a Daylily plant that after it's done blooming turn yellow.  Just give it a haircut and it will pop right back up.  This way you can have a Spring garden in the fall.

Pink Lilacs---smells so good this morning.

The weather has been so good this year and the bushes are simply loaded.

These bushes are only three years old and they are full of blooms this year.

This lilac is a raspberry color and both it and the pink bloom after my other lilacs are done.

Yellow yarrow is going to be loaded this year.  Yarrow thrives in full sun and at least moderately well drained soil.  During the Middle Ages yarrow was considered to have medical and magical qualities and was sometimes called all heal.

This little pinks decided they  wanted to live in the yarrow.

Peonies are also full of blooms this year.
